As of November 19th,
Operations at all East and Gulf Coast ports have resumed following the recent strike. Port officials have been diligently working to clear the backlog of vessels, and while significant progress has been made, some delays persist due to the earlier disruptions.
It’s important to note that the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) have extended their master contract until January 15, 2025, to allow time for further negotiations on unresolved issues, particularly concerning port automation. If these negotiations do not result in a new agreement by the deadline, there is a possibility of the strike resuming in January.
In the meantime, port operations are gradually returning to normal, and shipping schedules are expected to improve over the coming weeks.
