Local employer pledges to hire veterans

Corey Clive, owner of Venergy Group, a Fort Pierce-based, service-disabled, veteran-wwned small business, started the company in 2009 with the help of Executive Vice President and Co-Owner Barbara Goransson.
Venergy specializes in analyzing electrical energy usage and providing our clients with energy efficiency, energy consulting and renewable energy services to reduce your costs, protect your investments and propel you into a green, sustainable future.
Clive is passionate about helping the local veteran population and has been involved with numerous veteran organizations and charities. He is hugely committed to providing valuable employment, learning and professional growth opportunities to local veterans.
"We are proud to say that 90 percent of Venergy's employees are veterans — veterans that have vast amounts of experience in dealing with military and federal employees," said Goransson. "These capabilities and experience have set Venergy apart in building and maintaining relationships in the government contracting world."
Venergy has partnered with CareerSource Research Coast's Veterans Employment Representative, Victor Melendez, to aid local veterans in their transition from military service to the civilian employment population.
Joshua White has been employed for two years at Venergy Group as part of an On-The-Job program provided by CareerSource Research Coast after having spent the previous ten years in the Army, 7th Special Forces Group. Josh worked as a Project Manager and now helps to run Venergy's operations in addition to his role in managing federal projects.
"With little to no civilian work experience after graduating college and immediately enlisting in the Army in 2004, I was presented with the choice of continuing my career in the federal government as a civilian employee or pursuing an entirely new career path," said White.
Using the services of CareerSource Research Coast, Venergy has hired six employees in less than two years and taken advantage of over $25,000 in employer grants.
"We are proud of local businesses like Venergy who are dedicated to hiring Veterans in our local area," said Marcelo Dossantos, Director of Business Services for CareerSource Research Coast.
